At Ridgeland Mitsubishi, our service techs are sometimes asked about how to repair a light scratch to a vehicle's paint job. There's an inexpensive method of touching up minor damage to a painted surface that looks good and prevents corrosion from developing.

A shallow scratch that didn't reach bare metal can be repaired with touch up paint that matches your vehicle's color code. Once you have the correct color paint, clean the scratched surface with soapy water and buff it with a fine 220 grit or better sand paper. This will help the touch up paint bond to the surface.

Once the scratch is clean and dry, mix the touch up paint kit as the package indicates and carefully apply the paint with a small brush or applicator. Let the paint dry before taking the vehicle for a drive.
